First, a thank you:
Thank you for putting up with my less-frequent posting. I yearn to post, but with being back in the pastorate full-time after maternity leave and with a wonderful little boy who has yet to sleep more than two hours at a stretch (yes, even at night... yes, it's crazy-making... no, I don't want advice...), time is at a premium.
I will still be posting, just not as frequently. I'm hoping and planning for 3+ times per week regularly. Sound good?
Thirdly, this year's featured author:

My husband and I are starting a new tradition of choosing an author we're both interested in but haven't read widely. Several of our closest friends rave about Berry's wit, humor, and ability to convict his readers, so we're diving in. So far I'm about six pages into Sex, Economy, Freedom, and Community and I've both laughed out loud (rare for me) and had my eyes well up with tears. This man can write, he knows Jesus, and he has important things to say.
More Berry insights will be forthcoming.
Reading Wendell Berry fits with some of the changes my husband and I are hoping to make this year. We've switched off the television, except for weekly Top Chef or Survivor episodes, we're learning more about gardening and eating locally, and we are committed to a year of living more simply.
With our new little addition, we are realizing that the choices we always said we'd make (local! community! quality music! more silence! fewer "machines" and less computer/TV/Internet/phone time!) need to start happening now.
What about you? Are you looking to make any changes in 2013? Who are you reading?
