Green Smoothies for... Kids?

My firstborn niece is a bit of a picky eater. She likes pancakes, mostly, and blueberries. Occasionally her parents can get her to try something new, but only if the mood strikes her. I can relate. I was this kid, when I was her age.

So we tried a little experiment. Into the blender went a large, leafy bunch of kale, followed by some white grape juice, strawberry yogurt, and a banana. I topped it off with two big handfuls of blueberries. The result? A green smoothie that was more purple than green, and tasted more of banana and blueberry than kale. The kale had all but disappeared, leaving only its nutrients behind.

Aleah loved it.

Sophia loved it so much she turned it into a goatee.

Lesson learned. Want your kids to eat leafy greens and get a good dose of vitamins? Want to get a good dose of vitamins yourself, without having to eat bowls and bowls of greens? Blend 'em up!

Found the Gluten Free Cocoa Pebbles at the Rhinelander Walmart and bought two boxes. Tried them last night and I swear they taste exactly like the original. Absolutely no difference!!
