I'll be back on the ol' blogging train soon, friends.
It's Advent around here, and between the church festivities, the special services, the additional music, and the charities around town ramping up their good work, I'm swamped. Delightfully so, but swamped nonetheless.
We had the most beautiful Live Nativity yesterday evening, and I'm still glowing a little bit from the excitement of having a pair of donkeys, two goats, a grey calf, and a couple of sheep tied to the fence of the church's manse. The excitement of hearing Luke's story of Christ's birth read again. The excitement of a dozen kids dressed like shepherds and angels tramping around on the frozen ground.
I hope you will forgive me that there will be a bit less blogging over these next two weeks.
If you want an inside look at what this season looks like for pastors, check out wonderful Victoria over at Beauty Tips for Ministers who captures this season pretty darned well with this week's blog post.
If you're in ministry (and I'm speaking to all of you out there who are into churchy-ness, whether you're paid or unpaid, full time or part time, choir director, accompanist, minister, elder, deacon, usher, teacher, organizer, or just passionate and involved churchgoer...), hang in there and (Victoria's so right!) make sure you take time to drink water and be with Jesus. And not in that order.
If you're not in ministry, take it all in. The mystery. The majesty. The delight of this whole Advent thing. The reminder that Christ is coming and has come and will come again.
I'll be back soon. For now, go visit Victoria.
Love, love, love,
Me
