What to Cook for a Gluten Free Guest: Dessert

My mom swears by this gluten free dessert when visiting friends. Are you ready? Get out your notepad, because it's pretty complicated...

Ice Cream

That's it! Most major brands (Breyer's, Edy's, Blue Bunny, Ben & Jerry's, HaƤgen Dazs, etc.) list allergens. If you are unsure - go simple. I have yet to come across a plain chocolate or plain vanilla ice cream that includes gluten.

If you want to fancy it up a bit, leave out bowls of toppings for sundaes. The following are all gluten free (again, check labels, because ingredients are always changing):

Hershey's syrup
Snickers bars
Smucker's Magic Shell Ice Cream Topping
Wilton and McCormick Brand Sprinkles
Maraschino cherries
M & Ms (any variety except pretzel)
Reese's peanut butter cups

It's safe, easy, and amazingly delicious. You really can't go wrong!

  1. actually blue bell dutch chocolate has wheat flour listed in the ingredents,so you have to avoid the chocolate varieties of blue bell. Not all m and ms either, Ive noticed coconut has wheat.Wilton products are always iffy so make sure you check on the web because they tend manufacturer in a facility where wheat is present.
