We hosted friends this weekend from California. One was J, my husband's best friend since childhood - the guy he used to sit next to in Sunday School as a fourth grader, the guy whose house he was at all the time as a junior higher, and the guy who served as the best man at our wedding over five years ago.
The other guest was J's wonderful, beautiful, hilarious wife, JN, who he married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony three years ago.
Don't you love it when your friends marry people who you love just as much as you love them? It's like by getting married they are giving you an incredible gift.
Since both J and my husband celebrated their 30th birthdays during the month of July, we decided to share a Chicago date together.
We had a great night exploring the city, and then in the morning we visited what is rumored to be the BEST gf brunch spot in all of Chicago.
How cute is this little spot? Tweet is located on the north side at 5020 N. Sheridan in Uptown. It's far enough north that parking is fairly easy to find, even on a Saturday around brunch time. Tweet has a few of its own parking spots in back, but street parking is also affordable and available via meters for under two hours.
Every brunch entrée automatically comes with a side of fruit. As J so rightly noted, "It is SO great I don't have to choose between hash browns and fruit!"
And the gluten free menu is HUGE! Their gluten free slogan? "You can have Tweet without the wheat!"
They offer eggs benedict with killer hollandaise sauce, pancakes (including specialty pumpkin pancakes!), chilaquiles (a Mexican breakfast specialty with eggs, Chorizo sausage, and tortilla strips), and lots of gluten free breads and muffins.
Add to that fresh squeezed orange juice, Intelligensia coffee (a Chicago specialty!) and a lengthy menu of breakfast cocktails (which our waiter was sure to tell me he wouldn't judge me for indulging... sorry, sir, I'm not planning to pickle the baby!), and you have the makings of a world class brunch.
I ordered the eggs benedict, and I'm sorry to say I scarfed the entire plate of goodness down before even thinking to take a picture. It was soooo yummy. The eggs were done perfectly, the English muffins were great, and the hollandaise was ridiculously creamy. It came with a side of hash browns that were perfectly crispy. Yum.
Tweet was met with a big seal of approval by my husband and J...
As well as JN and me! It was tasty enough we didn't even mind the 90 degree heat of an outdoor brunch. (There's indoor seating, too, don't worry!).
Have you ever been to Tweet? Where's your favorite gluten free brunch?
