Certain biblical passages read a little differently now that I'm a gf girl. I'm preparing a bulletin for next Sunday's worship, and I was flipping through Deuteronomy looking for a text that could be adapted into a Call to Worship.
I found the following:
"For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills."
Sounds good so far, right?
"It is a land of wheat and barley..."
Oh. Bummer. I guess I'm going to have to go to the allergen-friendly promised land. Sweet rice flour, anyone?
Ha! Things like that crack me up all the time! There's this local restaurant here that uses these big wheat stalks for decor.
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity... do you bring your own bread for communion?
ReplyDeleteAbbey - my whole church went gluten free at communion as a way to care for me and our occasional gf visitors. I'm the pastor, so it's extra important to have gf bread, since my hands are all over it.
ReplyDeleteBefore I was a pastor I often brought my own. In most Protestant denominations the pastors don't mind, and some will even pray a blessing over it for you.
