I heard some bad/good news the other day.
You know the type: news that a local theme park is having a half-off day the same day you have a major project due, news that there are free puppies being given away but you already have two pets, news that a little chocolate is good for you - though you've never mastered being able to eat just a little chocolate.
What's the news, you ask? The news is that select Burger King restaurants now offer gluten free French fries.
Say what?
In an effort to revamp its not-so-popular fries, Burger King has made some changes to their recipe and to the frying process. Many Burger Kings are now offering a dedicated fryer for their French fries, keeping them separate from any breaded onion rings or chicken products.
How are they?
They are freaking delicious.
Don't ask about the headband... I was on vacation... and I have a fashionista little sister who said it looked great. I think it looks a little like Minnie Mouse, but what do I know?
A word of caution, though: BEWARE cross-contamination. If you are going to order some BK fries, be sure the servers understand how careful they have to be. I don't recommend going through the drive through...
I've had them twice now, and I haven't gotten sick either time. I'm super sensitive, so I definitely don't eat them if I have an important event the next day (like, you know, church), just in case.
If you're really in a junk food mood, add a frozen Cherry Coke to the mix. For a late-night junk food craving, some BK fries and a frozen Cherry Coke really can't be beat! Yum.
Here's BK's list of gluten free offerings, along with the usual disclaimer (i.e., "We might make you sick by accident, and if we do, it's not our fault...). Check it out here.
I like the headband!
