Update on the Beh-beh
There's a baby in there. No, it's really true. It looks like a bowling ball, but it's not.
Want to see for yourself?
Yay!
We saw the doctor on Wednesday. All is well and the baby, as my friend Cam would say, "Is in good working order."
We didn't want to know the baby's sex, but the doctor spent a few minutes tempting us.
"Well, I know what it is," he said.
I almost gave in and asked, but I'm glad I didn't. Little Baby E is still a mystery, and we like it that way. In 20 more weeks, we'll know for sure!
As for the second trimester, it is nine million times more pleasant than the first. I can eat anything (and everything!). The nausea is gone. The heartburn is under control. I finally look pregnant, so people at church understand why I need to go home and rest after 9:00pm.
Sleeping is getting tricky, so I usually build myself a pillow fort before bed to ensure some measure of comfort with my rapidly growing belly. My husband finds this hilarious, especially when I can't easily climb out of it on my own in the morning.
My new secret to a good night's sleep? Memory foam mattress topper! I tell you, this is a gift from heaven above (and from some wonderful, wonderful friends in Nashville!). Without it I woke up several times a night with aching hips from the added weight. With it, I sink into the cloud of my bed and drift happily off. That thing is worth its weight in gold.
What are your second trimester secrets? Any advice for a new gluten free mom-to-be?
