The Better Chip

Awhile ago I was contacted by the folks at "The Better Chip" to see if I'd be willing to try and review some samples of their new chips. We are huge chip lovers in this house, so I said, "Sure!"

The Better Chip makes a lot of claims. Naturally gluten free. Naturally cholesterol free. Made from non-GMO ingredients. Made of super healthy stuff like masa flour and onions. So the question was: would they be delicious? Or just healthy-tasting?

I shared them with my tortilla chip-loving husband. I tried the Sweet Onion, while he tried the Sweet Onion and the Jalapeño. I stayed away from the Jalapeño because the beh-beh does not appreciate spicy foods.

How were they? Tasty. Tasty enough that eating them alone would be great, and dipping them in hummus, salsa, or guacamole would be downright heavenly.

The Sweet Onion taste like a lighter, more honest version of some brands' sour cream and onion chips. They were crunchy, very onion-y, and sturdy enough for dipping.

The Jalapeños had, as my husband noted, "Quite a kick to them!" He likes spicy foods, but said if he was going to eat more than a handful of these at a time he'd need some mild salsa to cool them down. If you love spice, you'd enjoy this flavor quite a bit.

The final word? These are good. When I told my husband we had a couple more sample bags waiting in the cupboard, he said, "Really? YES!!!" They're worth a buy, for sure.

The only trouble is that they are still hard to find. They're just starting out, so they aren't in every state yet. In fact, we can't find them up here in Wisconsin, though we will be looking for them next time we're down in Illinois. To find them near you, check out their website here.

Have you tried "The Better Chip"? What's your favorite go-to food when you're craving some salt?

*Disclaimer: Gluten Free Jesus Freak was offered free 1 oz. samples of "The Better Chip" for this review. She was not paid or otherwise reimbursed for this review in any way. She just thinks the chips are tasty, and she wouldn't steer you wrong.
