Lincoln and the Huntsman

We took a last-minute road trip up to northern Minnesota this weekend. It wasn't planned. But it was delightful.

What possessed us to throw a suitcase in the car and pack up our baby for an 8+ hour drive each way, only to come back just in time to hit the hay before Sunday morning worship?

This guy.

Sweet little Hudson was born on Thursday at 3:00 in the morning. We got to see him by noon the following day. Not soon enough (it was much too long to wait to smooch his little face), but I'll take it. He was such a cuddly guy!

The evening we left, my husband noted - "It's not wise to keep sisters away from each other when there's a new baby in the family." So true.

Then he sweetly drove much of the way, while I entertained our son.

It was an incredible trip! I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Though his name is Hudson, his older sister Sophia couldn't quite get it right. She spent our entire visit calling her new brother "Baby Huntsman." I like it. He's got a killer's eye, that one.

On the drive home, which we did all in one shot, our son was awake for 5+ hours. That's longer than he's been awake ever at one time by about two hours. By the end of the drive he was hilariously overtired, and a bit out of his mind. Here's a video from hour number 4.

What a good sport he was!

Congrats to the new, sweet family. He's beautiful!
